A PRACTICAL HANDMADE PROJECT
Create a Geometric Paper Mobile
A geometric mobile combines light paper shapes with a balanced crossbar. Keep it small and display it in an adult work area away from moving air.

WHAT TO GATHER
Your starting kit.
- Light paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Two light wood sticks
- Short cotton thread
STEP 01
Prepare the starting piece
Cut a few plain circles, rectangles, and triangles from light paper. Keep the shapes modest in size so a small crossbar can carry them.
STEP 02
Set out the shape
Tie two light sticks together at their midpoint to form a cross. Check that their ends are smooth and the joint stays secure.
STEP 03
Work the first section
Attach each paper shape with a short thread through a small reinforced hole. Keep the hanging lengths short enough to reduce tangling.
STEP 04
Build and adjust
Tie the threads to the crossbar ends and add a central suspension loop. Adjust the shape positions while supporting the mobile on the table.
STEP 05
Finish and check
Hang from a suitable secure fixing away from cots, children, pets, fans, and heat. Remove it if threads loosen or paper begins to tear.
Before you begin.

What is the main practical tip for this project?
A decorative mobile is not a toy and should never hang above a sleeping or unsupervised child.
